Roles at Jamaica Blue
The success of our Jamaica Blue cafes relies on each crew member’s contribution to the team.
We all have a role to play, and we encourage our teams to support each other on their shifts so that our customers receive the best possible experience.
While each role will vary a little from café to café, these are the key responsibilities of each role.
GUEST SERVICE AMBASSADOR/ café ALL ROUNDER
This role is responsible for:
- Delivering friendly service, a warm welcome, ensuring wait times are kept to a minimum.
- Communicating to customers and well-maintained knowledge of the food and beverage menu
- Cashiering
- Team player
BARISTA
This position is responsible for:
- All things coffee, delivering freshly ground coffee to every order.
- Ensuring extraction is between 25-30 seconds, quality takes a little time!
- Assist in other roles in the café such as cashiering.
- Ensure the coffee machine and equipment is in excellent working order.
COOK
This role is responsible for:
- Food preparation
- Health and safety practices in the kitchen and service areas
- Ensure all menu items are made to order and meet the high standards of Jamaica Blue
- Making sure that the cabinet is well presented and appealing.
SHIFT SUPERVISOR
This position is responsible for:
- Ensuring that all team members are equipped with training and knowledge to deliver the best customer experience.
- Ordering
- Rostering
- Ensuring the standards of service are met.
- Ensuring health and safety practices are adhered to.
